 Welcome to the Physical Education Department

 

Our aim is to:     support and encourage all young people to develop and maintain healthy levels of fitness, improve physical activity movements and skills and acquire an enjoyment of participation that will lead to lifelong physical activity.

 

Department Rules:

Appropriate P.E. kit should be brought to every lesson.

P.E. kit consists of a sports t-shirt, sports shorts or tracksuit bottoms and a pair of trainers (which

should not be school shoes).

All jewellery must be removed before class.

No food or drink should be brought into class.

Activities:

There are nine basic activities undertaken in the department. These are:

-          Football                                                       -              Basketball

-          Badminton                                                  -               Volleyball

-          Fitness                                                         -              Athletics

-          Gymnastics                                                 -              Softball

-          Swimming or Table Tennis (dependent upon class size)

 

Courses:

There are a variety of different courses on offer by the department. These include:

·        S1 – S3 Curriculum for Excellence

·         S4 – S6 Core Physical Education

·         Heartstart

·         Team Tactics

·         Skill Development

·         Health and Fitness

·         National 4 Physical Education

·         National 5 Physical Education

·         Sports Leadership level 1

·         Sports Leadership level 2

 

Homework:

Pupils in S1 – S3 will be given regular homework. This can be found by following the relevant homework links on the right-hand side of this page. Pupils will normally have a week to complete homework and can see their teacher before homework is due for any additional explanation and support.

 

Pupils who have chosen P.E. to study as optional courses will get varying degrees of homework and will receive full explanations from their class teacher.
