Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to the website of St Roch’s Secondary School. We are a Catholic school built on ambition for our young people and their families and aim to provide the highest quality learning and teaching and compassionate and attentive support.
Our school has strong values which we have agreed on as a school community: Faith, Inclusion, Endeavour, Compassion, Respect. We revisit these values with our young people every day as we aspire to produce a generation of young people with a strong sense of social justice capable of serving and improving our community.
Some further points about our school:
- Attendance – we remain one of the best attended Glasgow schools
- Positive destinations – we are sector leading and frequently commented upon in the media, at Glasgow City Council events and at the Scottish parliament as a successful school. 100% of our leavers over recent years have moved into employment, training, Further Education or Higher Education. We have the highest percentage of young people moving onto HNC, HND or degree programmes in the east of Glasgow.
- Our provision for deaf learners is, again, sector-leading. Over 5% of our school is deaf and we are the largest centre for Secondary deaf education in Scotland. We have young people travelling from all over the central belt to attend St Roch’s with some young people travelling from as far away as Dundee to attend our school.
- Exam performance – St Roch’s is very proud of the number of young people attaining a large number of qualifications. Our attainment profile has improved greatly in recent years. For example, the number of young people gaining 5 Highers in S5 has quadrupled over the last two sessions and St Roch’s is above the Glasgow average.
