Welcome to Saint Roch's website
Dear Parents and Carers
I would like to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of St Roch’s Secondary School. I have worked in a number of schools and local authorities since 1988 and my most recent post was Depute Headteacher in St Paul’s High School, also in Glasgow, where I worked for 7 years. I know Glasgow well, having been born and brought up here. I went to school myself in Glasgow and still live in the city. I am now absolutely thrilled and honoured to be HT at St Roch’s.
I had the opportunity to meet and talk with many of you before taking up the post officially because Mrs Knapp invited me along to the Senior School Awards Ceremony and the S2 Parents night last term and I have been amazed at the warmth of welcome I have received.
St Roch’s has a fantastic reputation as a caring, inclusive and high achieving school and, as a newcomer, it is easy to see why. The sense of community and commitment to the school and to education in general is immediately obvious.
I am relishing the challenge of being the new Headteacher of St Roch’s and leading the school into a new era. In order to be successful, I know that partnership working will be essential. We exist as a school community and I would like all members of our community to be involved in influencing and shaping the future direction of the school. I met every pupil in the school on Monday morning at year group assemblies and I spoke of the need for all of us to work together to keep this school great and hopefully, over time, make it even better.
I hope that you all enjoyed a peaceful and restful Christmas and I wish you all a very Happy New Year for 2015.
Please feel free to contact me at the school if you have any concerns or questions. You can also keep up to date with any news on our Twitter account: @St_Rochs
