S1 – S3 Curriculum for Excellence

All S1 – S3 pupils undertake two periods of Physical Education every week. Pupils experience 8 of the 9 basic activities (with either Swimming or Hockey omitted) for a four week block. An outline of pupils learning is below:

Pupils are graded for each activity and an average is calculated over the course of the year. Grade outlines are as follows:

Very Good

Pupils’ practical ability is high and their application of their knowledge and understanding is occasionally effective.

OR

Pupils’ practical ability is frequently successful and their application of their knowledge and understanding is effective.

3

Good

Pupils’ practical ability is frequently successful.

Pupils’ application of their knowledge and understanding is occasionally effective.

4

Satisfactory

Pupils’ practical ability is satisfactory and their application of their knowledge and understanding is satisfactory.

5

Poor

Pupils’ practical ability is basic and they experience difficulty in applying their knowledge and understanding.

OR

Pupils’ practical ability is limited and their application of their knowledge and understanding is basic.

6

Very Poor

Pupils’ practical ability is limited.

Pupils’ have difficulty in applying their knowledge and understanding.
